IOTA (MIOTA) Digital CarPass ready to be launced!

The much-anticipated project that Volkswagen and IOTA (MIOTA) are working, Digital CarPass, is close to the completion and it will soon be unveiled for the public use.

Digital CarPass is practicable of IOTA for vehicles telematics data. It allows the vehicle to tell its story: where it went, what it did and how it was treated. It also provides tamper-proof mileage history, and guard against odometer fraud in second-hand vehicles. In simple words, it is a report-like sheet for vehicles that have distributed ledger to confirm data such as mileage.

Reported by Calcalist Tech, the head of Blockchain at Volkswagen, Benjamin Sinram said in Tel Aviv that CarPass will be launched in early 2019.

He elaborated the way that the company is exploring distributed ledgers and cryptocurrencies together with groups like Iota and Energy Web Foundation, as the publication from resumed.

Additionally, he unveiled that Volkswagen’s vision is also focusing on autonomous vehicles executing transactions on behalf of their owners using cryptocurrency wallets.

“We want to enable our autonomous cars to (provide) services for you and pay autonomously for these services with their own money.”

They are also processing the “charging protocol” that runs on Ethereum network.

Earlier in 2018 in Berlin, the Innogy Innovation Hub presented its psychical prototypes and its vision for Industry 4.0 in the “Blockchain, Tangle and Beyond”, they made it known that a lot of disruptive Industry 4.0 technologies are currently ready to be unleashed.

The Digital Twins & CarPass project is an idea that enables the car to tell its story audibly. According to them, the solution provides an audible and tamper-proof mileage, trips, environment, and maintenance data and stores them immutable in the digital twin for private passenger, fleet or commercial vehicles, as publication reads.
